MWBLegacy San Diego Schools' Tour 2009

Music Without Borders Legacy was launched in April of 2009 in San Diego, CA with its first "school talks and concerts series" offered to students from Sweetwater High School, Olivewood Elementary and MAAC Charter School. This series was made possible with the support of the International Community Foundation and participating corporate sponsors including, Sempra Energy Foundation, Orange Commercial Credit and Neighborhood National Bank. As a result of this event, Music Without Borders Legacy will be launching its first Virtual Guitar Workshop this coming fall 2009, in collaboration with MAAC Charter School. The virtual guitar workshops are another component of the Music Without Borders Legacy programs that we plan to offer to low-income schools in communities around the world.

About Music Without Borders

The Music Without Borders Legacy is a nonprofit initiative launched in April of 2009 by Pablo Sainz Villegas, a classical guitarist searching for a meaningful purpose in music, and Julieta Mendez, a philanthropic professional looking for creative ways to bring about positive social change.

We live in a world where the creativity of our children and youth is being stifled by the violence and aggression evermore present in our society. As such, the Music Without Borders Legacy seeks to leverage the inspirational power of classical music to humanize and bridge communities across cultural, social, and political borders for the benefit of children and youth. Our desire is to allow underprivileged children and youth the opportunity to participate in an enriching learning environment through music and art, that will contribute to a healthy and fulfilling experience of self-expression and realization.

We aim to accomplish this by reaching out to low income neighborhood schools in conflicted border regions throughout the world, and offer free classical guitar concerts to students, and free workshops, virtual music lessons, and scholarships to promising young musicians.
